We are fourth generation farmer/ranchers and have operated in this area for over 30 years. This is our fourth year as owners of the HAYRICK MOUND RANCH. The ranch has 1600 acres that is continuous with no public roads or access. We also have 500 additional acres in Kansas within 5 miles of the main ranch. (MUST APPLY FOR THE KANSAS DRAW BY JUNE 1ST.) All land is ideal for deer and turkey hunting with abundant habitats situated in creek-bottom, prairie fields, and timber.
On the ranch, we have four hunting stands; they are companion-type and perfect for filming your hunt. We also have several tree stands and blinds, some are accessible for those physically challenged. We will field-dress your game and also have a large, commercial cooler to preserve your game until you depart.
For the seven years we have owned HAYRICK MOUND RANCH, we have participated in DEMAP, killing 20 or more doe deer and inferior bucks, leaving good strong bucks for future hunts.
Our lodge has a spacious common room (12'x30') with cable TV, game table, wet bar, refrigerator, microwave and wood stove. It also has a front porch (12'x60'), perfect for enjoying appetizers and drinks after the day's hunt.
Adjacent to our common room is a modern commercial kitchen, staffed by co-owner Peggy Maxson and crew. We have received nothing but compliments and requests for seconds and recipes each time Peggy is in the kitchen! Each menu is tailored to seasonal offerings such as grilled steak (home-raised), pork loin, calf fries, fish, chicken, wild game from your hunt and the like. On occasion, we smoke our own ribs, or brisket. To compliment, there are fresh vegetable sides and cook's choice of starch. Peggy's specialty is homemade breads, hot rolls, and delicious cinnamon rolls.
When you are ready for an afternoon nap or a good night's rest, you will stay in one of our four bedrooms, all in our lodge. All are 11'x 11', three with 2 twin beds and one with a queen size bed. All have private baths, ceiling fans and gas heaters for when the nights turn chilly.
